Hurricane Hunters

The Hurricane Hunters are at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi Mississippi. They are the ones who get the data that NOAA uses to predict if a tropical disturbance is developing into a tropical storm or hurricane. The also gather data so that forecasters can predict whether a hurricane is gaining strength or weakening. I was able to take these pictures of one of the Hurricane Hunters while at the beach today.

I have more! But I like these the best because it was almost like the pilot centered on where I was standing on the beach and just decided to fly over me.

sandrine,

Thanks! Clicking on the pictures will enlarge them. You can see the running lights on all but the last one.

Did you take those today? I think I saw you on the beach today. I was on highway 90 headed east when one flew over at about 1:00pm.

This is a GREAT series! HH flies the C-130. I will save these for him...he will adore them, even if they ARE "Chair Force" planes. ;)
